What is S1G connectivity?

Compared to most Bluetooth and WiFi temperature and humidity monitors on the market, FireBoard S1G-enabled devices operate at a lower frequency (sub-1GHz), allowing signals to easily pass through thick walls and appliances. Add in the fact that we don’t charge monthly subscription fees for our technology, and you have a reliable, affordable, and scalable temperature monitoring solution.

Your base station connects directly to your local WiFi network, serving as a bridge for your other devices. You have several options here – see our model comparison to find the right fit for your business.

Select your monitors

Next, determine your monitor count. We recommend one Beacon monitor per refrigerator, walk-in freezer, or any other temperature-controlled space. One base station can support up to 32 Beacon monitors on a single network.

Sync your devices to your account

Your Beacon(s) will automatically communicate with your FireBoard 2 base station via S1G. Keep an eye on every monitor in one easy-to-use dashboard, and set SMS or email alerts to trigger when a recorded temperature falls outside a designated range. The FireBoard Beacon is a powerful long-range wireless sensor ideal for commercial temperature and humidity monitoring in coolers, freezers, and harsh environments. Is there a subscription fee for the software or hardware?
No. Once you purchase our hardware, it’s yours. You also get free access to the FireBoard Cloud indefinitely, meaning no data storage fees regardless of how many devices you use.

What do I need to get started?
A typical monitoring setup includes a FireBoard 2 base station, an S1G antenna, and a FireBoard Beacon temperature & humidity sensor. The Beacon transmits data to the base station via the antenna, and the base station connects to your local WiFi network. The FireBoard 2 Beacon Bundle has everything you need.

What happens if the WiFi disconnects? Do I lose data?
Even if your WiFi network is disconnected, the Beacon will continue monitoring temperature and humidity data. Once reconnected to the network, any data collected during that period will backfill, providing a complete picture of your data despite the interruption.

Is is difficult to set up a FireBoard temperature monitoring system?
FireBoard devices are entirely plug-and-play. You don’t need a service team to come out and install it – we simply ship you the hardware and you turn it on. Connecting each device to your FireBoard account is as easy as pairing a Bluetooth device to your smartphone. If the device is on, your FireBoard mobile app will see it.

What if I need to move the sensors?
You are free to move the Beacon or FireBoard 2 units wherever you need at any time. In fact, it may be wise to experiment with placements depending on your monitoring environment to ensure your coverage is maximal. This is rarely a concern for open-air spaces, though for environments with many obstacles, there may be additional considerations required.

Get started with the FireBoard mobile app

1. Download the app for iOS or Android

You can download the FireBoard app for free, whether iOS or Android. Once downloaded, create your FireBoard account. You’ll use this account to track and manage your temperature data both in the app as well as on our online dashboard.

     

2. Sync your device(s)

In the mobile app, navigate to Settings > Add New Device. If your FireBoard device is turned on, it will become available to sync – just like any standard Bluetooth device pairing. Simply tap to sync, and you’re ready to go.

3. Start monitoring

Now that you’ve synced your FireBoard devices to your account, it’s time to test them in the field. Beacons will automatically begin transmitting data once synced to a FireBoard account. If signal is lost, they will continue monitoring and backfill temperature and humidity data once they establish reconnection to a FireBoard 2 base station.
