I’ve heard most of the arguments about using temperature controls. I’ve heard the BBQ purists say they’re for people who don’t know how to smoke food. Actually, the temp controllers are for people who do and want to do it well consistently. The Fireboard Drive 2 does exactly that with consistency. Yeah, you still need to bring you’re “A” game to the cook session the same way you would if you were in your indoor kitchen. After all its still about the food, along with the time and care that goes into cooking it. I think Fireboard Labs gets this better than the other temp controller I was using.
Now as far as the BBQ purists are concerned, I have my doubts they’re cooking all their meals over campfires instead of kitchen stoves and storing perishables on blocks of ice instead of in refrigerators.
The Fireboard Drive 2 was designed by folks who respect your time and the food you’re cooking. I recommend you get one.
Took a gamble as I had company coming over for dinner, unboxed my FireBoard 2 Drive and a FireBoard 20 CFM fan at 5:30 a.m. and fired up my extra large Big Green Egg. I downloaded the app and began smoking. The flame was holding at 235 plus or minus 5 degrees for about two hours at which time my temp began to drop as the fan wouldn’t go on. My controller was in direct sunlight and got warm (operator error) but at soon as I moved to a cooler shaded position it came back to desired temperature where it held for 8 hours at which time I wrapped (11#pork shoulder bone in) and removed it when it reached 200 degrees. The controller and fan worked perfectly for 12 hours on a single charcoal fill. The fan fit with the adapters was spot on. So much better than my green controller. I highly recommend.
This device has been a game changer. Before buying this device everytime I used my Big Green Egg for a low and slow cook it was a dice roll. The temperatures would fluctuate wildly and whatever I was cooking was a disaster. Fustrating to say the least. Since buying the Fireboard 2 with fan, it's been night and day. From the first cook, I programmed the temperature and let it go. Perfect! The BGE maintained a perfect 250F for hours. I was shocked and overjoyed! Since then I've cooked multiple briskets requiring overnight cooks. Each time, the Fireboard kept everything under control. This thing is amazing. If low and slow is your game this is definitely a game changer. I highly recommend and would purchase this again. Cheers!
Checked 4 food and 2 K Series probes using ice water and they were very consistent. I really like the excellent heat ratings for the probes and wires for use in my Kamado Joe grill.
The competition probes are slender and accurate as can be. The pouches really come in handy also.
I love your products but have had many probes fail. Most begin by being slower in response and then seem to become inaccurate. I smoke at least once and up to four or five time a month. I have bought two of your Gen 1 meters. One is connected to your probes used to monitor two refrigerators and one freezer in our home. I just run the probes through the door which draws moisture into the freezer so gave been contemplating drilling access holes by the upper hinges to allow the seals to not be leaking. Also have a Gen two thermometer. I almost exclusively use all of the via the mobile app as the keyboards are hard to use especially the Gen 2 meters. That is really my biggest complaint as well as the chages on the temp alarms are not stable when entering the settings. Using the done key between temp settings and label settings seems to help but at times they don't always take and one must reenter the settings. Regarding the robustness of the probes it appears after many uses. I clean and was the probes after a ckk with liquid dish soap and use a wet steel wool and try to minimize water contacting the probe. I have a large stock of probes to qualify for your holiday promotions. I have given your Spark as gifts as it is easy to use and fast in reading. My non technical wife uses it the most in BBQing as well as cooking in the kitchen. Your meters are well made and have saved us hundreds of dollars in alerting us of our deep freezer failing thanks to the constant alarm setting. When it locked up the alarm notified me of the deep freezer approaching 20 F and I was able to get it running after the compressor cooled off. The alarm gave us a another day to buy a replacement. My first meter went to monitor the refrigerator and freezers while we did international travels as I have many hundreds of dollars in insulin in our second refrigerator. I could not only monitor the temp but have alarms for keeping my insulin at a proper storage temperature. Thanks Fireboard for making such reliable products for the home BBQer and owner. I have given or tossed all of the other meters and inaccurate probes away. I am now only a Fireboard user. Gratefully.

After a couple of years trying to get through a cook without problems with my Ultra Q controller, I finally gave up and did some research. Everything came back to Fireboard so I started reading reviews and watching videos on the three options. I eventually settled on the pro series since I tend to get lazy and crank up the heat after a few hours of smoke. Doing this has ruined several pit probes and meat probes. My main concern was finding a controller that connects to my wifi automatically and doesn't crash several times during a cook. I used the Fireboard pro yesterday and it worked flawlessly. I was able to check the temps regularly while away from home. I'm certainly no professional chef, I'm just a guy that occasionally uses his smoker and wants it to perform as described. My only issue is that Fireboard doesn't offer an adapter for the Weber Summit Charcoal. I had intended to make an adapter myself. Before I did anything, I plugged my existing fan into the port and it work. I appreciate that Fireboard didn't make it so proprietary that other fans wouldn't work with the controller. I highly recommend this product.
This hat is awesome, it’s my new favorite hat. I love the way it fits. And the way it looks! I wear it everywhere it’s so comfortable!
I’ve have tried several thermometers over the years and I have to say FireBoard’s Spark is my favorite so far. Works perfectly as expected.
I have only used it for the instant read capability. It is very fast. I also like the ability to read it in the dark and at any angle. I look for ward to using it as a remote.
I love my fireboard 2 pro. It's simple to use, easy to setup and so many features via the cloud. If you want an easy bbq controller that will track your cooks and can double as a fan controller, the fireboard 2 will not let you down.
Wonderful to have more monitoring of the meats. Magnetic base is a must have item. Purchased one additional meat probe so as to have three. The fireboard app is excellent too.
Brand new, first time using and both are reading 500+ in a room temperature pork chop.
I own a wood fired pizza restaurant. The funny thing is I don’t use it in my ovens. Here in the Pacific Northwest it is hard to keep cooking wood under 21% moisture. I built my own kiln and use the fireboard pro with the type k probes. I "cook" the wood for 24 to 38 hours straight. The fireboard has not failed. The type k probes wear out. I have used the thermoworks and every one of them have failed and their customer service is lacking to say the least. I started my first session in the Kiln on Nov. 23 2021. I use the probes in three places on the top of the wood, in the middle and on the bottom in front of the outlet fan. The fan can only tolerate up to 165 degrees. 254 degrees on top and 199 degrees in the middle. Keeps working great. Definitely worth the investment.. Thank you Fireboard
Worked once and then died. I contacted customer service, who couldn't seem less interested in standing behind their product. I would have had to send it back at my expense in the desperate hope of getting them to fix it and/or maybe reimburse me for the overpriced cost of the device and the shipping. No thanks, I'll buy something from a company that cares.
Well, couldn't wait to try out this new product. I own the Combustion predictive thermometer which I loved. The issue is/was, it does not hold a charge. I can use it once, remove it from the steak or roast or whatever I was grilling and if i don't place it on a charge afterwards, it is dead. It's very annoying, I would expect it to last longer. Anyhow, when I read the reviews on the Fireboard2, they sounded terrific. No predictive ability, but that was secondary to the main purpose of making sure whatever I was grilling was at the proper temperature. The first time I tried the Fireboard2 it froze, locked up completely, but my phone was still displaying a temperature. Okay. After I finished I managed to shut it down and it seemed to be okay, or so I thought. Round two, I was grilling a New York strip steak, not too large, 12 ounces, I inserted the probe, temp displayed looked good, phone was receiving data, so I put it on the grill. The temp started climbing immediately, almost a degree per second. Not right. I removed the steak, checked the probe for placement, all looked good, tried again and within a couple of minutes my steak was at 146 degrees according to the Fireboard2. (My instant read thermometer read something different, 105 degrees.) To say I am disappointed was putting it mildly. Not sure why it is so wonky. Thought perhaps the probe placement was at fault. After much searching, a lot of searching in fact, few videos actually show probe placement, only one extolling the virtues of the Fireboard2, but I found one, just in case I was inserting it incorrectly, I'm willing to admit I could be wrong, but nope, it was correct. I've used many types of probes before so I really didn't believe that was the issue. Anyhow, not sure what I'm going to do at this point. Definitely will not use this on a brisket or pork butt for now. In a quandary, maybe give one more shot? (Three times sort of thing.)
I didn't need the Drive Blower Nozzle, so I exchanged it for the battery. FireBoard is an outstanding company to work with.
Was in need of an upgrade as the one I had, DigiQ v1, was starting to throw more error codes. I am using it with a Pit Viper fan and love the seeing the variable fan speed function. I really enjoy all the features and how easy the setup and menus are. I did a couple of short cooks with it so far and it is excellent. I am looking forward to doing a brisket or pork shoulder and using the program function to manage time and temp setting change. Works as as I hoped and the ease of navigating it is fantastic. Easily one of the best BBQ purchases I have made.
