1. Remove old controller
Gather all necessary items and find a clean and comfortable area to work on your pellet smoker.
- Drill
- Phillips Bit Screwdriver
- Masking Tape
- Drill Bit
- #8 Screws
- Mounting Template
- Small Flathead Screwdriver
- Pellet Drive with Gasket
- Wiring Harness
- Easy Mounting Plate (if purchased/sold separately)
- Magnets (if purchased/sold separately)

Locate the screws attaching the current controller and remove them carefully using the proper bit. Keep the screws for use later.

Gently pull the controller away from the smoker. Allow the controller to hang out of the smoker.

Locate all of the wires and identify them with masking tape, noting color and where each set of wires is plugged into.

Gently grasp the clear/white connectors (called Molex connectors) and pull them apart to separate the smoker wires from the controller.
NOTE: There are typically 4 sets of wires in pellet smokers and are often color designated as follows: Ignitor (Purple), Fan (Red) (occasionally 2 fans), Auger (Yellow or Orange), Power (Black).

Repeat the previous step with each set of wires with Molex connectors.

The remaining wire is the temperature probe. This wire, often wrapped in fiberglass braided coating, is terminated in different ways depending on the specific manufacturer and model of your pellet smoker.

Many pellet smokers use a circuit board mounted terminal block for the temperature probe connection. You can simply use the small flat blade screwdriver (provided) to remove each conductor of this wire.

If your pellet smoker uses a different connection method, you can simply cut the wires from the connection. You will need to strip the fiberglass insulation from the wires prior to installing into the provided blue connector. Set the old controller aside as it is no longer needed.
NOTE: You do NOT need to make note of which conductor goes where.

Connect the temperature probe wire to the blue connector (provided) using the small flat blade screwdriver (provided). Either wire can be attached to any location on the blue connector.

Attach each Molex connector from the smoker to the corresponding connection on the wiring harness. These wires are usually color-coded corresponding to the wire harness.
2. Installing the Fireboard Pellet Drive
There are three methods for securing the Pellet Drive to the smoker. Select the method that applies to your installation.
