I went ahead and ordered the case with my Fireboard to keep it protected from inadvertent drops or light rain. The magnets are quite strong and that’s how I mount it next to my WSM. I screwed a metal plate to my pergola where I use the smoker and it sticks to it like glue . The probe cables easily reach the smoker and the Fireboard. I took off the rubber piece on the bottom because the cutouts are not quite lined up with the holes and it’s hard to push probe plugs through. It came with 2 extra ones so I could try to modify, but figured I’ll just place a plastic bag over unit if I think it might rain. It is pricey though and I’m glad the new V2 Fireboards are more weather resistant.

I’ve been using my Fireboard with the case for about a year now. I couldn’t imagine using it without the case anymore. The option to use the kickstand or the magnet is very nice, and having a little bit of protection is reassuring when I’m handling big cuts of meat or large trays that could bump into the Fireboard and knock it to the ground. I have worn down the rubber gasket to the probe ports over time, but the case itself still works perfectly. Maybe the case came with a replacement probe port gasket, but I can’t seem to find one if it did. Other than that, and it’s an extremely minor issue, it has been an essential accessory to the Fireboard.
