One finds all sorts of people in the BBQ world. There are the general categories of people, BBQ Competition Pitmasters, BBQ Restaurateurs, backyard chefs and even spice, rub and sauce creators. Inside these categories, one can find all flavors of people. From the loud and raucous to the quiet but fierce. And then there are those who defy all those categories as sole personalities.

Meet Meathead

After obtaining a Masters Degree in Fine Arts, Meathead entered the food world as a wine buyer in his early 20’s. He was largely focused on beverages until he started AmazingRibs.com in 2005 stemming from a friendly rib cookoff with his neighbor. The website is a go-to for smoking and grilling enthusiasts for recipes, how-to articles and a community that’s outdoor cooking focused.

Meathead has been instrumental in promoting FireBoard products throughout the company’s tenure. While in Chicago for the National Restaurant association trade show, FireBoard founder Ted Conrad connected with Meathead for some Chinese food, a chance to catch up on the latest and a brief walk down memory lane.
